The main emblem of the club the Old Lady’s badge appeared in 1920 for the first time, since then it was slightly changed. Now the emblem of the team is a black-and-white oval shield, divided in five vertical stripes: two white stripes and three black stripes. “Juventus” stays on a white curved line, over golden curving lime, symbolizing honor. The white outline of the charging bull (a symbol of the Comune di Torino) with a crown over it, is on the black oval shield in the lower section of the emblem. The two Golden Stars for Sport Excellence crown the Juventus’ emblem.
The club has different nicknames, la Vecchia Signora- the Old Lady is the most popular. The “old” part of the nickname is a pun on Juventus which means “youth” in Latin. The other nickname is la Fidanzata d’Italia -the Girlfriend of Italy, due to great love and respect of Southern Italian immigrant workers who arrived in Turin to work for Fiat. Other nicknames are: i bianconeri -the Black-and-Whites and le zebre – the Zebras because of Juventus’ colors.
